Nine: Stoker Class I R. G. Tribe, Royal Navy, who served aboard the Royal Yacht Victoria & Albert during the Coronation of George VI and the Second World War before transferring to the Aircraft Carrier Argus travelling with her to Murmansk, Russia

Robert George Tribe was born at Withernsea, Yorkshire on 26 April 1901 and attested with the Royal Navy on 20 January 1921 as Stoker Class II. He served with several vessels from that point including Renown, Worcester and Ross before being transferred to the Royal Yacht, Victoria and Albert on 9 February 1926.

Serving with her during the coronation he appears upon the roll of the Coronation 1937 medal as a member of the crew. He was still with her on the outbreak of the Second World War when the yacht was seconded to serve as a depot ship. Remaining with her until 28 May 1940 he was transferred to the aircraft carrier Argus.

This converted ocean liner served largely in the Mediterranean however when Tribe joined her, she was transporting 151 Wing R.A.F. from Britain to Murmansk, Russia entitling him to an Arctic Star. This mission concluded he was posted to Victory II on 27 September 1941, remaining ashore for the rest of the war.

Tribe was discharged on 13 October 1945 and settled at Worthing, West Sussex where he died in October 1986; sold together with copied research and a second a mounting bar.
