A. C. Worsley probably served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War as his service number is a post-War Royal Air Force one. He is certainly confirmed as having flown as an Armorer in the Sunderland flying boats of No. 209 Squadron in Malaya in late 1951. That unit flew on the Firedog missions, working in collaboration with the other Forces to pinpoint and attack the enemy. It has recently been established that the flying boats took off and landed with their bombs (and more importantly depth charges) with the fuses removed. This was not a 'crew' job as such, so they carried an armorer who fused the ordnance after take-off and then removed them before landing.

Worsley likely continued in the same role in the Korean War; sold together with ORB extracts which confirm his participation, with thanks to Steve Butler for having accessed this resource.
