Belgium, Croix de Guerre London Gazette 20 March 1947.

Sgt ALLEN has served with this regiment as a tank commander and Tp Leader in every action the regiment has fought from D + 1 day to the end in Germany. During this time, he has had four tanks knocked out. He has always maintained the highest standard of personal gallantry and determination and has shewn leadership and coolness of a high order. As a Tank Commander and Tp Leader he has been outstanding and his aggressive spirit and personal bravery have been a splendid example to successive crews of his squadron and of the regiment throughout the campaign. There is no doubt that Sgt Allen's determination to carry on and his sustained gallantry especially in the difficult days just before the break-out, played a large part in the successes which led directly to the liberation of Belgium.
