(x) Six: Staff-Sergeant E. Reeves, Royal Engineers, who was killed in a road accident in Cyprus on 1 November 1965 whilst on active service

Eric Reeves was born at Leytonstone, London on 22 January 1920 and attested into the Royal Engineers on 1 May 1939. He was sent to France as part of the British Expeditionary Force on 15 October 1939, he returned back to England on 24 May 1940 and later served in North-West Europe from 17 August 1944-23 April 1946 and then saw service at Home until 16 July 1946 when he became Class "Z". He was awarded his Efficiency Medal as per A.O.134 of August 1946. Serving with 217 Field Squadron (No. 22521720) from 19 September 1950, Reeves re-attested on 16 November 1951.

Having seen active service in Cyprus from 12 January-16 December 1957 (Medal & clasp), the Arabian Peninsula from November 1959-November 1960 (clasp), he returned to Cyprus for a second time in August 1963. Reeves was killed in a road traffic accident south of Nicosia on 1 November 1965, which also cost the life of Lieutenant H. Burton; sold together with service papers covering all his service, copy of his death certificate, photographs of a funeral party and a list of those who donated wreaths at his funeral and photograph of him and a colleague in the Sergeant's Mess.
