(x) FIve: Staff Sergeant R. C. Blyth, Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers, late 2nd County of London Yeomanry (Westminster Dragoons), who landed in Normandy on D-Day, 6 June 1944

Reginald Caleb Blyth was born at Forhoe, Norfolk on 14 January 1911, where he was also married in 1936. He served in the Westminster Dragoons from 16 July 1941 (No. 7935726) and was with the unit at the time of their famous D-Day landings. He remained in France until 21 February 1946 and was released to the Reserve in May 1946.

Blyth re-enlisted into the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers in January 1952 reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant. Blyth died at Norwich, Norfolk in 1983.

Note: his service number was 22557307 but the first two digits appear to have been omitted from his General Service Medal 1918-62.
