Frank Charles Francis was born at Rushworth, Victoria on 13 February 1921 and enlisted at Rushworth on 16 October 1942. He largely served at home until 11 January 1945 when he was posted to New Guinea and it was here that he was admitted to the 4th Field Ambulance with a hole in his right hand. A later inquiry reported that he was injured by the detonation of a blank at a range near Wunung River where he was teaching a class on disarming booby traps. Returning to his unit on 20 July of that year he returned to Australia and was discharged on 13 November 1946; sold together with copied service papers.
