Arthur Everett Evans was born at Melksham, Wiltshire in 1917 the son of Samuel Herbert Evans. Enlisting in the RAF he was posted to 233 squadron at Leuchars. He was flying in Hudson N7243 on 11 April 1940 when it received minor battle damage. Arthur, however, was killed by return gunfire from A Do18 during a patrol off the Norwegian coast, the aircraft landed safely and the rest of the crew survived. He is buried at Trowbridge Cemetery, Wiltshire.
