Douglas Iles first entered the war in France on 29 June 1915 serving with the 6th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment. He was later attached to the Machine Gun Corps. His Medal Index Card notes that he is eligible for a Silver War Badge dated 30 January 1919 however he does not appear to have been issued one.
