A tragic and superbly well-documented campaign group of three awarded to Private G. Dickinson, West Riding Regiment, a native of Leeds who was killed in action in 1915, two years before his brother, leaving behind a remarkable time capsule of original material

George Dickinson, son of George and Fanny Dickinson, of 18 Oatland Avenue, Camp Road, Leeds enlisted in the 2nd Battalion, Duke of Wellington's Regiment and died on 18 April 1915. He was a casualty of the successful assault by the Battalion on Hill 60 on 18 April 1915 and is commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial.
Sold together with treasure trove of original letters from George Dickinson to his family, mainly his mother, and letters from the family to George from his enlistment in 1913 until his death together with a letter from the War Office dated 6th September 1915 officially notifying the family of his death, silk labels commemorating the brothers, George's soldiers' small book and Princess Mary's Christmas tin for 1914.
A poignant time capsule of medals and original letters, some in YMCA envelopes, not often seen to this extent.
Jeffrey Dickinson, son of George and Fanny Dickinson of 18 Oatland Avenue, Camp Road, Leeds enlisted in the 12th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. He died on 11 April 1917 during the capture of Contalmaison and is buried in the Tilloy British Cemetery.
