The Defence Medal attributed to Nurse H. B. J. Pollard, Mobile Voluntary Aid Detachment

Helen Babette Jaquetta Pollard was born at Kensington, London on 27 August 1922, the daughter of James and Helen Pollard. She served during the Second World War and afterwards married Surgeon Lieutenant Stephen Peel in Colchester in 1946. Pollard died on 18 September 1998 at Plymouth; Sold together with copied research, a Mobile VAD arm patch and an annotated folder relating to her which states:

'Miss Babette Pollard, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs James Pollard. She is working with the Mobile V.A.D. and after the war she hopes to own kennels and breed dogs. Miss Pollard's mother was Miss Helen Hugh-Slatter'.
