The British War Medal awarded to Second Lieutenant C.G. Ridout, 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry who died from gas poisoning on 22 December 1915

Clarence Grosvenor Ridout born at London on 21 September 1885 was a carpenter and joiner when he enlisted as a Private in the Reserve Cavalry and allotted number 16546. He was commissioned temporary Second Lieutenant in the 1st Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry on 7 April 1915.

He entered France on 7 December 1915; a little over 2 weeks later he was to die from gas poisoning on 22 December 1915. Ridout is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery; sold together with copied research.
