(x) Khedive's Star 1884 (Pte. W. Bowles. 10th Hussars), the reverse engraved, very fine

William Bowles was born in circa 1851 and joined the Royal 10th Hussars (Prince of Wales's Own) on 21 May 1869. He served, as a Private, in Sudan between 1884-86 and saw action at the Battle of El Teb and the subsequent Battle of Tamai. For his service during the Mehdist War, he was further entitled to the Egypt Medal with El Teb and Tamai clasps. Bowles then discharged from the Army on 28 June 1887 but promptly rejoined the same regiment as between 1878-80 he served in Afghanistan during the Second Afghanistan War and was further entitled to the Afghanistan Medal with Ali Musjid clasp.
