(x) Waterloo 1815 (William Hayward, Driver, Royal Horse Artillery.), polished, nearly very fine

William Hayward served as a Driver in Captain Norman Ramsay's Troop of Royal Horse Artillery; a distinguished artillery officer famous for saving his guns from French cavalry at the Battle of Fuentes d'Onoro in May 1811, Ramsay was killed by a musket ball at Waterloo and by the end of that day only one officer in the Troop remained standing - testament to how hard the men of the unit fought on 18 June 1815.
