Edward Burgess was born at Lowestoft, Suffolk on 24 January 1878 and enrolled into the Royal Naval Reserve on 23 January 1900, he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. on 25 January 1916. He was demobilized on 23 May 1916 to join the salvage ship Melita.

Peter Colvin was born at Eyemouth, Berwickshire on 24 October 1896, he enlisted into the Royal Naval Reserve on 1 June 1915 and was presented his L.S. & G.C. on 29 December 1933.
