Charles Halford Dransfield was born in late 1893 at Lucknow and joined the East Indian Railways in June 1911 as a shed apprentice, Allahabad. Recorded as an engine driver by 1922, he was awarded his Medal as per Indian Army Order 516 of September 1931. Married at Christ Church, Lucknow in December 1934, his son was baptised by the Railway Chaplain at St Peter's (Railwayman's) Church in October 1937. He returned to England in March 1949 and died in Leicester in 1959.
