Volunteer Force Long Service Medal (India & the Colonies), G.V.R. (Pte. K. M. Balfour, 16/Cawnpore Rfls. A.F.I.), officially impressed naming, mounted as worn, double-struck in places, good very fine

Keith Melville Balfour was born on 2 March 1875 at Edinburgh and sailed for Calcutta in November 1895. Balfour served as an Agent for the Allahabad Bank at various stations and joined several Masonic Lodges during his time in India, including the Kumaon Lodge, Morning Star Lodge, Rock of Gwalior Lodge and Lodge of Harmony. His Medal was awarded as per Indian Army Order 747 of September 1920 and he retired home to Ashburn Gardens, SW7. Married in 1927 to Rosalind Gard, they moved to Newton Abbot, Devon. Balfour was a member of the East India & United Service Club and died in June 1945.
