Indian Police Medal, for Meritorious Service, G.VI.R. (Frederick Crossly Inspr. of Police, U.P.), official corrections to naming, good very fine, in case of issue

I.P.M. Gazette of India 1 January 1947:

‘Frederick Crossly Reserve Inspector (Retired) Aligarh United Provinces.’

Apparently awarded to recognise his intervention in an attack on a Government official. In protecting the official, he suffered an injury to his cheek resulting in a permanent scar.
