Charles D. Walker enlisted on 3 April 1915 while he was working as a clerk and entered the war in France with the Royal Engineers on 27 September 1915. He was serving with No 142 Company in May 1918 and continued to serve after the war, being promoted Corporal in 1921. Further promoted Sergeant in 1928, it was in this rank that he became entitled to his M.S.M., although it would not be awarded for some time. Advanced Company Quartermaster-Sergeant on 15 May 1934 whilst serving with 'B' Company of the Training Battalion Walker was discharged on 2 April 1936; sold together with copied research.
