William Alfred Gouge who had served with the Royal Marines from 13 April 1908 - 26 October 1928 when he is declared as "Dead". He had reached the rank of Drum Major from 11 November 1920, serving with the Royal Marine Depot and is entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio for his Great War service and was further awarded his L.S. & G.C. on 29 May 1927; sold together with the service parchment to his father.
