Henry Charles Schonbeck was born at Whitechapel, London in 1878, son of Johann Friedrich Christian Schönbeck of Atendorf, Germany. He served in the Middlesex Regiment during the Great War and in 1920 emigrated with his family to Sydney, Australia on the Beltana. Henry died at Katoomba on 11 September 1962.

Bernard Roland Schonbeck was born in London on 7 October 1909. A truck driver he enlisted in the Australian Military Forces on 30 July 1942. Initially deployed at home in the Intelligence section he was posted to New Guinea on 28 October 1944 and served variously with the 2/11th, 2/1st and 2/3rd Battalions, clearing the Japanese from the Aitape - Wewar regions of New Guinea. He returned to Australia on 27 December 1945 and was discharged on 17 January 1946. Bernard died on 25 July 1999; sold together with copied research and service records.
