Four: British Constable T. J. Ryan, Palestine Police, who captured a Syrian bomb in Haifa

General Service 1918-62, 1 clasp, Palestine (1796 B. Const. T. J. Ryan. Pal. Police); 1939-45 Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, mounted as worn, good very fine (4)

Thomas Joseph Ryan served in the Palestine Police and served in Natal with the Ninth Army during the Second World War. A rather tatty note written in ink is worthy of note:

'Received from 1796 B/Const Ryan T. one bomb - Syrian type, found in the corner of a timber yard near the Istiqla Mosque, Haifa.'

Sold together with Government of Palestine Road Licence, O.C.B.A. Handbook, Pass for May 1944 and Memorable Order of Tin Hats certificate.
