Hilda Butt entered the war in France on 16 December 1916 and served at 6 General Hospital at Rouen. She was transferred to the Nurses Hospital at Abbeville on 25 March 1917 before transferring to 8 Casualty Clearing Station on 1 April 1917.
She had a brief spell of leave between 12-25 May 1917 and transferred back to the hospital at Abbeville on 29 January 1918. She then served on a number of different Hospitals and Casualty Clearing Stations to include 43 C.C.S. and 3 Canadian Stationary Hospital. She remained in France for further leave between 13-26 March 1919 and on returning to England was finally demobilized on 7 April 1919.
