Leslie Douglas Woodhouse was the son of Thomas Vernon Woodhouse and Lucy Hole Woodhouse, of 16, Hound Road., West Bridgford, Nottingham. He was made 2nd Lieutenant with the 15th (Bantam) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters on 23 March 1915, being promoted Lieutenant on 2 August 1915 and became a Lieutenant with the 17th (Welbeck Rangers) Battalion on 20 May 1916.
He was attached to the Trench Mortar Battery on 3 September 1916 when he was killed in action and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. His estate amounted to £90 4s. 2d., his details also appear on the family headstone at Nottingham Church (Rock) Cemetery.
