(x) Three: Private H. Sanderson, 4th Battalion, late 19th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, who was Killed in Action on 31 October 1916

1914-15 Star (2840 Pte. N. Sanderson. 19/Bn A.I.F.); Victory Medal 1914-19 (2840 Pte. H. Sanderson.19 Bn. A.I.F.); Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque (Norman Sanderson), sold together with an original Mothers' and Widows' Ribbon, numbered '8256', good very fine (3)

Norman Sanderson was born at Marrickville, Sydney, New South Wales in 1890 and attested at Sydney on 26 July 1915, being posted to the 19th Battalion on 12 July 1915. His record of service with this Battalion appears to have been lost however it seems likely that he entered the war at Gallipoli with them as his entitlement to the 1914-15 Star is confirmed.

Transferring to the 4th Battalion, A.I.F. at Tel-el-Kebir on 14 February 1916 Sanderson joined them in France on 30 March. There he was found to be suffering from Shell Shock on 25 July 1916 spending three months in hospitals and depot companies.

Rejoining the Battalion on 29 September, shortly after the end of the Somme Offensive was there that Sanderson was killed in action on 31 October 1916. He is buried at Dantzig Alley British Cemetery; sold together with copied research.
