1914 Star (S-6485 Pte. T. H. March. 2/The Queen's R.); British War and Victory Medals (S-6485 Pte. T. H. March. The Queen's R.), good very fine (3)

Thomas Harvey March was born in 1895 and was the son of Mrs Emma March of 1 Magdala Road, South Croydon. He served in France with the 2nd Battalion from 2 November 1914 (1914 Star without clasp) and was killed in action around Bullecourt on 11 May 1917, being commemorated upon the Arras Memorial. It seems likely he was serving with the Lewis Gun Section of No. 8 Platoon, 'B' Company, who took a direct hit from an enemy shell which killed two men, wounded one more and destroyed their gun (Report by Lt. R. L. Atkinson refers).
