Victory Medal 1914-19 (Lieut. O. H. Weekes. R.F.C.), good very fine
Owen Harry Weekes was born on 16 May 1880, and lived at 3 Brighton Terrace, Monkstown, Dublin, Ireland. He was originally commissioned into the Army Service Corps before being commissioned into the Royal Flying Corps serving with No.1 Balloon Squadron of the Kite Balloon section. He was made a Lieutenant Balloon Officer (London Gazette 10 April 1916) then to Lieutenant Balloon Commander (London Gazette 5 March 1917) and made Temporary Captain Balloon Company Commander (London Gazette19 April 1918). He was transferred to the Unemployed List on 1 May 1919 and given the Honorary rank of Captain. He applied for his British War and Victory Medal pair in 1924 and these were sent to his address in Ireland.
