Charles Berdet Revell was born at Hull, Yorkshire on 2 December 1878 and was a trimmer by trade upon his joining the Royal Navy (No. 292122) in May 1897. He was charged having been drunk on 3 December 1899 and then served aboard the Bonaventure off the coast of China from 28 February 1900-6 June 1901, the Medal issued to him aboard Endymion in August 1902. Revell was discharged in January 1903, his character rated 'Bad' and with 15 months hard labour as a result of using insulting language and in contempt of a Superior Officer.
