(x) Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, Laing's Nek (5729 Pte. W. Hesketh. Rl:Lanc:Regt), very fine
William Hesketh was born in 1879, a native of Ancoats, Manchester and served through the Anglo-Boer War with the Royal Lancaster Regiment. Discharged at some stage after this he re-enlisted on the outbreak of the Great War on 11 August 1914. Entering the war in Egypt with the 8th Battalion, Manchester Regiment he served until 28 November 1919 when he was discharged due to sickness; sold together with copied service papers.
