Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, undated reverse, 1 clasp, The Nile 1884-85 (1158. LcCpl. T. Ludlam. Rl. Sussex. Rgt), renamed, pitting from Star, contact wear, otherwise very fine

Thomas Ludlam was born in Nottingham and attested for the Royal Sussex Regiment at Brighton on 7 December 1882 as a 19-year-old porter. He served at home with his Regiment until his posting to Egypt on 25 April 1883. Ludlam was stationed in Egypt for over two years, and during that time participated in The Nile expedition of 1884-5.

He returned to England on 12 September 1885 and was later transferred to the Army Reserve on 7 December 1889. Ludlam was discharged on 6 December 1894 after having served with the Colours for twelve years; sold together with copied service record and medal roll.
