Lieut. Peter Scawen Roberts VC
1933-1952 Scrapbook kept by Muriel E. Roberts, covering the abdication of Edward VIII, society affairs and the awarding of the Victoria Cross and D.S.C. to Lieutenant Peter Roberts R.N. on 30th June, 1942, "one of Britain's youngest V.C. winners who saved his submarine by crawling through a gun casing to remove live bombs that were jammed". A family reunion dinner menu at Hatchett's Piccadilly celebrating the investiture at Buckingham Palace is signed "Peter" by the recipient and other attendees. Press coverage of the simultaneous award of the V.C. to Petty Officer Thomas William Gould is included, with a copy of "Bravest of the Brave, The Story of the Victoria Cross" by Glanfield (2005), with a references to Roberts. His V.C is included in the collection of Lord Ashcroft. Items relating to Roberts' service aboard HMT Kashgar in WWI are included (Concert programme held at Sea, Nov 1917, Armistice Day menu Jerusalem Hotel, Dec 1918). A fascinating album
