Lord Louis Mountbatten
1922 Autograph letter written by Lord Mountbatten while travelling with the Prince of Wales on his Royal Tour of the Far East. Lord Louis writes on gold embossed notepaper of the Omiya Palace, Tokyo, where they spent a week. The envelope, initialled "LM" with the same gold chrysanthemum on the flap, was posted in London a month after the date of writing.
Mountbatten refers to his wedding and affairs of the heart, advising his correspondent "to be absolutely faithful ... if that doesn't work you can always pretend to have an affair". He signs himself "Dickie". Few letters written by the Royal Party during tours abroad seem to survive.
