Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1939)
1917 "The Strand Magazine for July (some wear) with an article titled "Is Sir Oliver Lodge Right", in which Conan Doyle and fellow author Edward Clodd give their opinions for and against life after death. The front cover of the magazine asks "Can the Dead Communicate with the Living? YES by A. Conan Doyle / NO by Edward Clodd". It is signed "Arthur Conan Doyle and he has circled "YES".
The debate resulted from the publication of a book "Raymond" by Lodge, renowned physicist, about the life and "after life" of his son who was killed in WWI. Included is a signed studio photograph by Lafayette of Oliver Lodge and two typed letters signed to Dr Cobb referring to his review of "Raymond" and another discussing the power of mediums.
