Elizabethan Privy Council Document
1599 (28 Feb.) entire letter from Privy Council at Richmond with address panel reading "Our lovinge friends the high Shryfe and rest of ye commissioners for ye musters in ye county of Norffolke", contents cover the collection of money for the war in Ireland - "we required soche somes of money as you thought meeter accordinge to their habillities and direction you received from hir Majesty and from us for ye provisione of horse for the service of Ireland ... where in an other letter you do complain of the townes coporate of Lynn and Yarmouthe, in that they doe refuse to contribute unto you in the occasions of publicke service". Signed Thomas Egerton (Lord Chancellor and Keep of the Great Seal), Lord Buckhurst (Lord Treasurer, Earl of Nottingham the Lord Admiral), Baron Hunsden (Lord Chamberlain), Baron North (Treasurer of the Queen's Household), Sir William Knollys (Colonel of foot regiments), Sir Robert Cecyl (Secretary of State), Sir John Fortesque (Chancellor of the Exchequer), and Sir William Waad (Cleark to the Privy Council).
