18th-19th Century range, mostly a range of 18th Century correspondence to James Smyth of Balhary, "Writer to the Signet" at Edinburgh, many hundreds with a variety of rates and town handstamps, contained in two shoeboxes; also 1841-53, a range of usages on cover including entire letter to Hawick with boxed "paid/1d/extra" red handstamp, perforated 1d. reds with a range of duplexes, many of which Scottish, Surface Printed with 1867-80 3d. on 1868 envelope to Holland, 6d. and 1/- on 1872 entire, five used postal stationery envelopes with contents (Scott and Graham Ltd. reports). An interesting group well worth careful viewing.
