RA in a pale shade, good to large margins (close N.W. corner) and just tied on a part of printed letter to the Sheriff Officer in Ellon. This letter was originally sent on 1840 (6 July), prepaid "2" with boxed Aberdeen despatch boxed datestamp, both crossed through in black in and with boxed "paid at/aberdeen" struck in red. The letter was later reposted with the 2d. adhesive just tied by a very neat strike of carmine-red Maltese cross, the reverse with 1840 (19 Sept.) boxed datestamp; there is a vertical folding crease.
