1840 (15 Oct.) "Fores's Racing Envelope No.5", hand coloured and addressed to Shiplake, New Henley, endorsed "Pre-Paid" in one hand, and "Not Paid" in a separate hand, charged "1" and with "henley-on-thames" 15.10 double arch d.s. Some reinforced tears and creases though remaining a highly attractive and rare envelope, there being very few used examples known, this the earliest known date and the only hand coloured example recorded.
