A176, 1840 (9 June) from London to Fowey, Cornwall, uprated with the left half of TD from Plate 1a., and the right hand third lettered D, both tied by red Maltese Crosses, the envelope itself additionally cancelled, in an apparently successful attempt to defraud the Post Office; the face with some ink offsetting, the reverse with Lombard Street d.s., some wrinkles and foxing to the paper though a remarkable and important usage.
