1807 (2 Jan.) entire letter from Portsmouth to Uiginish, Skye via Edinburgh and Dunvegan, charged '9d.' and '1/1', both deleted, and eventually '1/5' (the rate for 800 to 900 miles); the face with manuscript endorsement "Missent to Carinish" (a hamlet on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides), with clear straight line "carinish" beneath, the reverse with receiving and transit markings. Most unusual. Photo.
