1807 (2 Jan.) entire letter from Portsmouth to Uiginish, Skye via Edinburgh and Dunvegan, charged '9d.' and '1/1', both deleted, and eventually '1/5' (the rate for 800 to 900 miles); the face with manuscript endorsement "Missent to Carinish" (a hamlet on North Uist in the Outer Hebrides), with clear straight line "carinish" beneath, the reverse with receiving and transit markings.
