1889 (9 Aug.) double rate envelope to Switzerland bearing 4d. on ½d. vertical pair with Protectorate ½d. vermilion (4), 1d. on 1d., 2d. on 2d. and 6d. on 6d. cancelled by "674" barred oval with Molepolole c.d.s. alongside overlapping Mafeking transit and with manuscript "5" in red crayon, the reverse (flap missing) with part Swiss arrival c.d.s. (10.9); a light vertical fold and some soiling. A spectacular and exceedingly rare early franking from the Protectorate with a wonderful array of adhesives. Ex Visser. Photo
