1888 (15 Aug.) small piece bearing 2d. on 2d. and 1/- cancelled by "638" barred oval of Mafeking with manuscript date "15/8/88 / Tati" in black ink, written by Sam Edwards, the acting postmaster at Tati and prior to the arrival of datestamps in Tati. An interesting item used between the issue of these stamps on 7th August and the runner post which was already operating on 6th August. Ex H.C. Dann. Photo
