Note: As the Unappropriated Die series did not include the ½d. value, the requirement for this denomination was met by overprinting the ½d. vermilion stamp. The above, and the two following examples of these essays are believed to have been prepared by De la Rue and all are illustrated on page 46 of the Holmes handbook
