Alfred Edwin Lindon was born on 20 March 1889 and enlisted into the Royal Engineers in September 1911 and joined the newly-formed Royal Flying Corps in July 1912. Advanced Corporal in June 1914 and Sergeant in November 1914, he was made Flight Sergeant in June 1915 and proceeded overseas with the Royal Flying Corps to Salonika in November 1915. Made Warrant Officer in April 1916, he remained overseas until May 1916, being selected for a commission. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant in April 1917, he closed out the Great War as a Captain and joined the Royal Air Force. Lindon went on to serve in Mesopotamia and earned a scarce award for the operations in Iraq. It is understood 2 O.B.E.'s and 3 M.B.E.'s were conferred. Retired in December 1933, he was noted as photographer and engineer.
