(x) The wound certificate of Landsman W. Cooper, who suffered the amputation of his right arm whilst in action at the Battle of Trafalgar serving aboard Admiral Collingwood’s flagship H.M.S. Royal Sovereign
Wound certificate noting Landsman William Cooper, aged about twenty-five was wounded on board H.M.S. Royal Sovereign by receiving “a wound of the right arm which was the course? amputating it”, on 21st of October in 1805 “in an engagement off Cadiz”, certified on 3 November 1805, reverse features handwritten note from Captain Edward Rotherham, “I do hereby recommend this Man as a Proper Object for a Cooks Warrant”, edge wear and ageing, minor paper loss to lower right edge, majority of text is clear and legible
