New Zealand 1845-66, reverse dated '1845 to 1847' (Mr Charles Scott Naval Cadet, H.M.S. 'Racehorse'), officially impressed naming, with silver riband claw buckle, some solder under claw, good very fine

Only 35 medals issued to the Royal Navy with these dates, 34 to H.M.S. Racehorse - including 3 to Officers - including 9 to Royal Marines, and 1 to Hazard.

Charles Scott served as a Naval Cadet aboard the Racehorse off and on the shores of New Zealand in 1845-47. The vessel landed Bluejackets for the storming of stockades, including for the attack on Kawiti’s Pa during the Battle of Ruapekapeka.

This Medal was issued and sent to Scott on 2 August 1872.
