Roman Empire (8): Caracalla as Casear under Septimius Severus (AD 198-211), Civil War Issues, AR Denarii: i) Rome, M AVR ANTOININVS CAES, draped bust right, rev. SEVERI AVG PII FIL, priestly implements: lituus, knife, jug, simpulum and sprinkler, 3.05g (RIC 4; BMC 186), about very fine; ii) another, as before, rev. MARTI VLTORI, Mars advancing right, 3.13g (RIC 1; BMC 11), slightly worn, good fine; iii) Julia Domna, another, Eastern Mint, IVLIA DOMNA AVG, draped bust right, rev. VENER VICT, Venus standing left, holding apple and sceptre, 2.97g (RIC 630; BMC 422), good fine; iv) another, as before, PIETAS PVBLICA, Pietas standing facing, raising both hands before altar, 2.58g (RIC 574; BMC 69), struck on broad flan, very fine or better; v) another, as before, IVLIA AVGVSTA, rev. SACVLI FELICITAS, Isis, wearing polos, standing facing, resting foot on prow, holding infant Horus at breast with her left hand, a patera in her right, rudder against altar behind, 2.64g (RIC 577; BMC 75), some roughness and scratches to surface, otherwise good fine or better; vi) another, as before, 2.20g, about fine; vii) fragment of plated forgery, IVLIA AVGVSTA, as before, rev. VENVS [FELIX], Venus standing facing, 0.87g (cf. RIC 580; BMC 85), fair; viii) another, as before, rev. VESTA, Vesta seated left, holding palladium and sceptre, 2.42g (RIC 582; BMC 93 var. (with sceptre)), reverse worn, about good; (8).
