William George Barlow was born at Toxteth Park, Liverpool on 28 June 1887, the son of George and Johanna Barlow. Enlisting with the Royal Field Artillery he appears on the 1911 census as a Driver with the 89th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, stationed in the Punjab.
He was still in this role upon the outbreak of the Great War, and he entered the war in France with the 43rd (Howitzer) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery on 16 August 1914. Barlow served in France for the duration of the war, being transferred at some stage to the 2nd Divisional Ammunition Column with whom he was awarded the M.M.
Surviving the war Barlow settled in Liverpool with his wife where he worked as a railway shunter. He died on 19 January 1971; sold together with copied research.
