William Reginald James Johns joined the Royal Navy in 1932 and received his 'mention' for the Anzio landings in 1944. Johns was awarded his Long Service medal on 15 June 1950 which was given to him whilst at the Royal Navy Hospital, Portsmouth. Invalided out of the Royal Navy in 1951, Johns joined the Sea Cadet Corps in 1964 and worked his way up to Senior Chief of the Midlands area. He as awarded his British Empire Medal on 1 January 1973 whilst serving with the Birmingham Vernon Sea Cadet Corps; sold together with copied research.
