(x) An unusual campaign group of six awarded to Flight Lieutenant D. M. Eastman, Royal Air Force, who served with the Marine Craft Section during the Second World War before joining British Forces in Kenya during the Mau Mau Insurgency

1939-45 Star; Atlantic Star; Africa Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45; Africa General Service 1902-56, 1 clasp, Kenya (Flt. Lt. D. M. Eastman R.A.F.), mounted court-style for wear, good very fine (6)

Donald Mosley Eastman enlisted as an Aircrafthand at some stage after October 1925 and undertook a Coxswain's course in 1940, being posted to the R.A.F Station at Calshot for service with the Marine Craft Section. This unit was created to operate watercraft in support of the Royal Air Force, usual with regard to Seaplanes. During the Battle of Britian only 13 High Speed Launches were available to rescue pilots forced to ditch over the channel and more craft and crew were urgently needed.

Commissioned Pilot Officer on 14 November 1942 from Flight Sergeant with the General Duties Branch, Eastman was further advanced Flight Lieutenant on 14 November 1944. He went on to see service during the Mau Mau Insurgency with that rank. Only 10 Squadrons and 1 Flight received entitlement to this clasp during the course of the Insurgency.

Eastman died on 21 January 1984 at Cape Town, South Africa; sold together with copied service papers.
