Cecil Ernest Aston was born in Brighton on 15 July 1899 and worked as a post office sorting clerk prior to his attestation with the Royal Naval Air Service on 30 July 1917. Upon his enlistment, Aston served aboard the President II as an Aircraftman 2nd Class, and was soon promoted Leading Aircraftman on 1 November 1917. He later joined the Royal Air Force on 1 April 1918, transferring to the R.A.F.R. on 5 March 1919.

Aston again served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, under service number 11104. He was promoted Squadron Leader on 1 December 1937, was advanced Wing Commander on 1 October 1946, and finally to Group Captain 1 July 1947. Aston appeared in the London Gazette on three separate occasions for having been Mentioned in Despatches.

Sold together with riband bar, R.A.F. uniform buttons and uniform belt buckle, as well as with copied World War I service record.
