Sidney Jones was born 28 July 1894 and first entered the War in France in 1915 with the Chesire Regiment. Jones was attached to the 5th Battalion when he was taken prisoner by the Germans at Hebuterne on 2 July 1916, and was thereafter imprisoned at the Dulmen camp. Jones resided in Sale, Cheshire, and is further entitled to a British War and Victory pair.
